We have made some changes to the website. We updated the software that displays your website on your browser. This is a required migration that we cannot avoid. We listened to you and tried to keep the look and feel of your family tree as much as possible to the original. No new functionality has been added or existing functionality removed. Please use this topic thread to let us know what you think. Try to be descriptive in your posts. It does not help if you say "I don't like it". Say what you do not like and why. Let us know what page you are talking about - Family View / Ancestor View/ Descendant View etc. We will listen to you and make changes.

Perfectly fine, thank you. There was nothing wrong with it when you amended it previously although I understand several complaints were received. Mine was, and still is, working fine. Thank you.

I can now edit the home page using Chrome which was not possible before you made the last lot of changes. I have not as yet tried the other search engines but I can, at least, now use Chrome to edit the home page.

I had to change a few html codes but nearly all are OK and I have a lot. The appearance of the home page looks fine.

PROBLEM.

I have not checked the rest of the site by any means but one thing I looked at was STORIES. Unfortunately, Tribalapges, you will need to look at this. The white print is now not showing clearly on the black background. I have sent you a screenshot separately. All my stories are the same.

Overall the appearance of my site has improved its just these last few glitches that need to be fixed.

Keep up the good work.

I have checked home page editing in Firefox and Edge as well as Chrome and all is now working fine

Using IE it is OK and I don't need to use IE Compatibility Mode as I did before. In fact I would not want to as in that mode it is a mess.

So the editing for me is now OK. The only other thing I have come across so far, is, when using IE, the drop down menus in view and people are not working as they should. For example clicking on stories in the people drop down menu mostly brings up the list of names instead of stories. OK using the other search engines. Not a concern for me however as I will seldom use IE. However if it is happening for other members or visitors using IE it would be annoying.

Fixed the Stories (color) issue, not the Menu.

YES, YOU HAVE CHANGED THE STORY COLOURS.

HOWEVER HAVE A LOOK AT MY HOME PAGE. YOU HAVE CHANGED THE LINE LENGTH AGAIN. IT WAS OK ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO.

ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THIS OR DO I HAVE TO EDIT IT MYSELF.

COME ON TRIBALPAGES SUPPORT. YOU HAVE TO SETTLE ON SOMETHING FINAL NOW. NOT KEEP UP THESE CONTINUALLY CHANGHING THINGS.

It is difficult for us to diagnose issues if you have inserted your own custom HTML, Javascript or CSS in your homepage's About section. Making a line bold or adding tags like h1, h2 etc will make the lines longer and taller.

You look at the home page in my second site and tell me why the line lengths on my home page differ in each tree. There your setting. Not of my doing.

I was making the point that the line lengths in one of my sites was a mess so why OK in one and not the other. I am aware of the html code issues. The line lengths was the issue at the time and that now may have been fixed. I use the word "may" because you have changed them a few times in the last few days which makes me nervous about saying anything is now fixed.

We did reduce the width of the About section by 10% yesterday. I apologize for saying that no changes were made. This was omitted in the change list that was provided to me. I have been told that this is the final width and no further changes will be made.

Also, we just fixed the issue with the drop-down menus disappearing on some versions of Internet Explorer. We do not support IE9 and older.

I edited my lines late yesterday and all looked fine.

This morning at 9am the home page looked OK. Using Chrome I checked two html links towards the bottom of the page and decided to delete both. No problem doing that.

However I then went from Chrome to Edge and when the tree came up the line lengths were again changed. I went back to Chrome and now the line lengths have certainly changed ONCE AGAIN.

THIS IS TOTALLY UNSATISFACTORY. I SEE THAT YOU HAVE A MESSAGE FROM ANOTHER MEMBER SAYING HE HAS TROUBLE WITH EDITING AND LINES.

Please put the coloured square dot (showing family) back to where it was, i.e. to the left of the name, with the other icons. You have inexplicably placed it at the bottom right of the display box, which becomes visually confusing.

Further to my previous about the coloured descendant dot having been inexplicably shifted to the bottom right of the display box (Family view):

If the person has a spouse, which shows as the last line in the box, then the postition of the dot infers that it relates to the spouse - which is incorrect. It is most misleading.

Now the dot remains to the left of the name of main person on the page, and to remain consistent, it should not have been removed from the left of all the names.

You do have a point. The reasons for doing this is:

[1] Some names have several bloodlines squares. Having 4 or more of these squares before the name skews the centering of the name and is not pleasing to look at.

[2] We tried to be consistent with the Ancestor and Descendant views where these boxes are displayed in the bottom right.

Here's what we can do ...

[1] Move them to the top right or left (next to the camera icon) and move the name a little lower. OR

[2] If there is one box put it on the left of the name. If there is more than one, center them below the name. We have done this the the main person in the middle of the page. This would be our preferred solution.

Or you can simply revert to what it was originally!

You said "Having 4 or more of these squares before the name skews the centering of the name and is not pleasing to look at." Well, it doesn't worry me.

Further - placing the coloured dot at the bottom of the frame, adds an extra line, which blows out the display of the family unecessarily.
