GED missing separate branch

Recently added a new branch of about 50 related names. But none linked to existing file of 1000+ names. Did a Backup/download and found that none of the new names were in the GED file.

Why did none of the 50 new names show up in the GED?

Is this normal because they are unlinked to my start person?

That means my backups are not including all names in my file, right? If yes, that is a surprise and would like to understand the export rules for selected records.

I guess I could add a temp link to the other 1000 names to make sure they are attached?

(Need to wait another day because only allowed one GED/day.)

Okay, so I got my daily export today, after linking my open tree to someone on the main tree. And as I hoped they were all in the backup file. But this is really showing an important flaw in the backup process.

It appears that if there are any unconnected trees or branches, that information may not be in your backup files.

And this doesn't just affect unused backups, many of us use these ged files to be imported into other programs where the missing names may not be readily apparent.

It would be good for someone to explain the selection logic for backups until this can get corrected.
